Regular Season Round 14: Leonas - Tipitapa 74-81

Very significant was Tipitapa's (#1, 10-4) victory against 4th ranked Leonas (4-10) 81-74. Tipitapa made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Leonas outrebounded Tipitapa 47-35 including 31 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Shannen Peralta (-2003) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Clenia Salazar (-1987) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Tipitapa players scored in double figures. American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Jessica Martino (175-2000, college: Delaware St.) scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tipitapa (10-4) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Leonas at the other side keep the fourth place with ten games lost. Tipitapa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leonas will play against Real Esteli (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
