Regular Season Round 8: Correcaminos - Freseras 105-109

There was a minor upset in Ciudad Victoria where their close opponent Correcaminos (1-16) were defeated by seventh ranked Freseras (3-15) 109-105 on Wednesday. Freseras shot 60.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Matthew Butler (188-1995, college: UT Martin) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Lillard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Brazilian center Joao Franca (215-1998) produced 25 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-1989, college: FIU) added 24 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Freseras maintains seventh position with 3-15 record which they share with defeated Correcaminos. Correcaminos lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 16 games lost. Freseras will meet at home league's leader Libertadores in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Correcaminos will play against the league's second-placed Panteras (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
