The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Panteras' (10-7) road victory over 4th ranked Plateros (9-9) 100-79 on Wednesday. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American Brian Conklin (201-1989, college: St.Louis) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The other American import guard Tyquan Rolon (192-1995, college: LeMoyne) chipped in 17 points and 9 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Five Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (206-1988, college: Georgia Tech) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Panteras moved-up to second place. Loser Plateros keep the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with Dorados. Panteras will meet at home Correcaminos (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Plateros will play against Astros in Guadalajara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
