Regular Season Round 8: Plateros - Panteras 97-93
Date: October 5, 2023
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Panteras (10-7) against fourth ranked Plateros (9-9) on Thursday night. Visiting Panteras were defeated by Plateros in a tough game in Fresnillo 93-97. Plateros made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The winners were led by the former international center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and American point guard Tu Holloway (183-1989, college: Xavier) supported him with 12 points, 14 assists and 4 steals. Even 20 points and 7 assists by American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) did not help to save the game for Panteras. The former international Fabian Jaimes (198-1992) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Plateros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-9 record, which they share with Dorados. Panteras at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. Plateros will play against higher ranked Astros (#3) in Guadalajara in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Panteras will play at home against Correcaminos and hope to get back on the winning track.
