Regular Season Round 9: Mineros - Santos 83-78

There was an upset when second-best Santos (10-8) lost to sixth ranked Mineros (8-10) in Zacatecas 78-83 on Sunday. American forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Walter Lemon Jr. (191-1992, college: Bradley) accounted for 14 points and 5 assists. Five Mineros players scored in double figures. American-Puerto Rican point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Rakeem Christmas (206-1991, college: Syracuse) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Santos in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Mineros moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Halc.Rojos. Loser Santos dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Mineros will meet at home league's leader Fuerza Regia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santos will have a break next round.
