Very expected game when 5th ranked Dorados (9-9) lost to first ranked Abejas (13-5) in Chihuahua 78-82 on Sunday. American Markeith Cummings (198-1988, college: KSU) nailed 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Abejas players scored in double figures. Dominican-American forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-1994, college: Augusta) added 14 points respectively for Dorados in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Abejas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Despite that victory Abejas went down to second position due to points difference. Dorados lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Plateros. Abejas will meet at home Freseras (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dorados will play against Halcones UV Xalapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
