Regular Season Round 10: Abejas - Freseras 84-78
Date: October 12, 2023
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Abejas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Abejas defeated 7th ranked Freseras in Guanajuato 84-78. Abejas forced 23 Freseras turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) notched 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals to lead the effort and American forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) supported him with 21 points. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) did not help to save the game for Freseras. His fellow American import forward Jeff Ayres (206-1987, college: Arizona St., agency: Slash Sports) added 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Freseras' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Freseras lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 17 games lost. Freseras will play next round against strong Halcones UV Xalapa trying to get back on the winning streak. Abejas will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Panteras at Aguascalientes.
