The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Abejas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Abejas defeated 3rd ranked Astros in Guanajuato 81-69. Abejas forced 25 Astros turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American Markeith Cummings (198-1988, college: KSU) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Venezuelan point guard David Cubillan (181-1987, college: Marquette) contributed with 16 points and 8 assists for the winners. American-Puerto Rican Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) replied with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American guard Karim Rodriguez (196-1988) added 13 points in the effort for Astros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Libertadores. Defending champion Astros keep the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with Halc.Xalapa. Just two games before the end of Regular Season and it may be the most important game of the season next round when Astros faces strong Halcones UV Xalapa trying to get back on the winning streak. Abejas will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Halcones Rojos in Veracruz.
