Very important is a home loss of Botafogo against Minas on Saturday night. Host Botafogo was crushed by Minas in Rio de Janeiro 96-76. Minas outrebounded Botafogo 42-28 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Botafogo's players. Forward Alexandre Paranhos (204-1992) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian point guard Franco Baralle (185-1999) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Minas players scored in double figures. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-2000) produced 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and guard Lucas Andrade (193-2004) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Minas will meet Vasco da Gama in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Botafogo will play against U.Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul and hope to win that game.
