Regular Season Round 2: Cordon - Nacional 65-98

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Nacional and Cordon. Cordon was smashed at home by 33 points 65-98 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Nacional made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Cordon turnovers. Sebastian Ottonello (200) notched 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) supported him with 22 points. Four Nacional players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by American MikeL Simms (196-1997, college: VCU) did not help to save the game for Cordon. His fellow American import power forward Chaz Crawford (208-1984, college: Drexel) added 3 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
