There was a minor upset when their close opponentSao Jose (9-6) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (10-7) 82-74 on Wednesday. Bauru looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Dontrell Brite (175-1994, college: Mount Olive) fired 22 points, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. The former international guard Alex Garcia (190-1980, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Douglas Silva (201-1998) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Renato Carbonari (202-1987) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sao Jose's coach Sebastian Luis Figueredo rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Paschoalotto/Bauru have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Sao Jose at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with UniFacisa. Bauru will meet higher ranked Sesi Franca (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sao Jose will play against Paulistano (#5) in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
