Regular Season Round 4: Tridents - Pinelands 67-110

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Bridgetown:Pinelands (#2) and Tridents (#5). Tridents were smashed at home by 43 points 67-110 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Pinelands dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tridents ' 42. Pinelands forced 29 Tridents turnovers and outrebounded them 60-42 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pinelands players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Tridents ' players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by guard Derion Hurley who scored that evening 28 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Deroni Hurley (175-2001) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Pinelands players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by American swingman Nigel Jones (201-1990, college: Talladega) did not help to save the game for Tridents . Guard Nayiib Browne added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinelands have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion (4-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Cavaliers. Tridents lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Lakers and Warrens.
