Regular Season Round 4: Panteras - Halcones 93-88

Date: May 25, 2024
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Halcones (4-2) against fifth ranked Panteras (4-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Halcones were defeated by Panteras in a tough game in Aguascalientes 88-93. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Halcones. Panteras players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by American guard Rennia Davis (188-1999, college: Tennessee) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Taylor Wurtz (183-1990, college: Wisconsin) supported her with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by Croatian forward Andrijana Cvitkovic (190-1994, college: Dayton) did not help to save the game for Halcones. American-U.S. Virgin Islands swingman Imani Tate (175-1995, college: Albany) added 23 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Five Panteras and four Halcones players scored in double figures. Halcones' coach Maria Fernandez tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Panteras moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Freseras. Halcones at the other side keep the third position with two games lost. Panteras will play against Rojas (#6) in Veracruz in the next round. Halcones will play at home against Abejas and hope to get back on the winning track.
