There was no surprise when 15th rankedAbejas (6-22) were edged by ninth ranked Halcones Rojos (14-14) in Veracruz 91-89 on Friday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Halc.Rojos made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Puerto Rican point guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-1997, college: UNF, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 27 points to lead the effort and American guard Deshawndre Washington (201, college: NM State) supported him with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Even 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Alahjan Banks did not help to save the game for Abejas . American power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Four Halc.Rojos and five Abejas players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos have an impressive five-game winning streak. Halc.Rojos maintains ninth position with 14-14 record. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom.
