The game was mostly controlled by Quimsa. Flamengo managed to win third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Flamengo 44-30 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Brandon Robinson (196-1989, college: Clayton St.) fired 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Swingman Emiliano Basabe (195-1992) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Four Quimsa players scored in double figures. Argentinian Martin Cuello (193-1993) produced 15 points and Argentinian point guard Franco Balbi (188-1989) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Halcones UV Xalapa forced 19 Hebraica turnovers. Strangely Hebraica outrebounded Halcones UV Xalapa 42-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Hebraica's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Daniel Bejarano (193-1991, college: Colorado St.) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. His fellow American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-1989, college: SF Austin) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American swingman Jordan Williams (196-1992, college: N.Texas) answered with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and Italian-Uruguayan point guard Luciano Parodi (182-1994) added 28 points and 4 steals in the effort for Hebraica. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
