San Pedro Tigersharks celebrate NEBL title - Jun 8, 2015

San Pedro Tigersharks earned the NEBL title. They overcame Cayo Western Ballaz 61:55 in the second game of the Finals to complete the sweep. James Milton (203-F, college: Stevenson) produced 22 points and 16 rebounds to pace the Tigersharks.
San Pedro jumped to an early lead. They built an 18:7 advantage after ten minutes. The Ballaz cut the deficit in the second period. Cayo Western pulled within 6 points at the interval 32:26. Cayo Western stayed aggressive throughout the third term. They got as close as two points at the final intermission. But the Tigersharks used an 18:14 rally in the fourth frame to seal the victory. Darwin Leslie (191-F/G-81) had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, while Densmore Edwards produced 6 points for the winners. Richard Troyer (196-F-84, college: Utah Valley) responded with 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Ballaz. Flowers netted 10 points in the loss.


South Team wins first NEBL SMART All Star Game - May 9, 2015

The National Elite Basketball League staged its first ever SMART All Star Game on Saturday 18 April, 2015, at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District. The players were selected onto two sides representing the geographic north and south sides. In the game played, it was the South Side Team which consisted of players from Dangriga Warriors, Belmopan Red Taigaz, and the Cayo Western Ballaz that went up against the players from the North side which included those from the San Pedro Tigersharks, Orange Walk Running Rebels, Belize City No Limit Team and the Belize Yellow Pages Hurricanes. In an exciting game played, it was the team from the South that won the All Star Game when it defeated the North by the score of 107-98. The top scorers for the South were Farron Louriano with a game high 26 points and 8 rebounds; Richard Troyer (196-F-84, college: Utah Valley) scored 21 points and had 6 rebounds, while Trevaughn Usher scored 13 points with Terrel Eskridge scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the North were Andrew Ortiz with 24 points and 5 dunks, while Gregory Rudon (180-G) contributed 17 points. Kevin Domingo, Lennox Bowman and Roger Reneau finished with 15, 14 and 12 points respectively.
