San Pedro Tigersharks upset Smart Belize Hurricanes in the NEBL Finals opener. Tigersharks forced 25 Hurricanes turnovers. International forward Jihad Wright (193-93, college: UNC Pembroke) stepped up and scored 31 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners and point guard Francis Arana (-97) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Akeem Watters (186-95) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Tyrie Orosco (196, college: Cent.Penn) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
