Defenders - Dream Ballers 82-70 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Dream Ballers in Belize City on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Defenders 82-70. Defenders dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Dream Ballers' 38. Defenders forced 21 Dream Ballers turnovers. American swingman Nigel Jones (201-1990, college: Talladega) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Devin Daly (195-1994, college: LSSU) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Defenders players scored in double figures. Defenders' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard D'Von Campbell (185-1992, college: Campbellsville) produced 26 points and the former international guard Edgar Mitchell (-1993) added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Running Rebels played at the court of Western Ballaz. Western Ballaz smashed Running Rebels 90-67 on Saturday. Western Ballaz forced 27 Running Rebels turnovers. American forward Richard Smith III (206-1992, college: California, PA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Mark Gordon (196, college: Keiser) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. Four Western Ballaz players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Joshua Hopkins (196-1999, college: UNH) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Kurt Burgess (196-1982) scored 8 points and 13 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hurricanes dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 40. Hurricanes forced 24 Panthers turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kris Frazier (201, college: Peru St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Glency Lopez (180-1997, college: Midland CC) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Hurricanes players scored in double figures. Forward Darnell Oden answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Davis Tavian added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Panthers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
