He had a double-double of 28 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Western Ballaz (#3, 2-1) 84-69. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Defenders to consolidate first place in the Belizean league. The season is still on an early stage, but Defenders already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Defenders, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Talladega College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.3ppg. Jones is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 13.7rpg) and averages solid 75.0% FGP. Worth to mention Jones played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Second best performed player last round was Brandon Flowers (196-F-1995) of Red Taigaz. He is a forward in his first season at Red Taigaz. In the last game Flowers recorded impressive double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Red Taigaz cruised to a 91-79 relatively comfortable win over Dream Ballers (1-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Flowers is one of the most experienced players at Red Taigaz and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to forward John Kelly (200-F-1997) of Tiger Sharks (#5). Kelly scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Tiger Sharks, leading his team to a 98-73 easy win against Panthers (#7, 0-3). Tiger Sharks needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Kelly has a very solid season. In 2 games in Belize he scored 16.5ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4.
