Defenders - Tiger Sharks 71-79 Very significant was Tiger Sharks' (#4) 79-71 road victory against 5th ranked Defenders. Tiger Sharks forced 24 Defenders turnovers. Defenders were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Kyle Steward (201-1995, college: UMKC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Jamaal Clifton (198, college: Langston) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Tiger Sharks players scored in double figures. Guard Treandus Branch came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 19 rebounds and American point guard Lorenzo Dillard (189-1995, college: Dillard) added 17 points and 7 assists respectively for Defenders in the defeat. Tiger Sharks maintains fourth place with 7-5 record. Defending champion Defenders keep the fifth position with six games lost. They were defeated by seventh ranked Red Taigaz (5-8) 102-95 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hurricanes. Red Taigaz shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Stephen Williams (188-1983) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!). Forward Brandon Flowers (196-1995) helped adding 20 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Tyrie Orosco (196, college: Cent.Penn) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kris Frazier (201, college: Peru St.) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Red Taigaz moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Western Ballaz. Hurricanes at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Running Rebels. Third ranked Dream Ballers (9-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Western Ballaz (5-8). Dream Ballers smashed Western Ballaz 113-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded Western Ballaz 64-32 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Dream Ballers looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Western Ballaz's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dream Ballers made 12 blocks. The best player for the winners was Delvon Henderson (200-1991) who had a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 20 rebounds and 10 blocks. Naturalized American guard DVon Campbell (185-1992, college: Campbellsville) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Forward Darnell Oden produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and forward Elvis Usher added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Dream Ballers and four Western Ballaz players scored in double figures. Dream Ballers keep a position of league leader, which they share with Running Rebels. Loser Western Ballaz keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Red Taigaz. Running Rebels dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 46. Running Rebels forced 27 Panthers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Panthers' players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Kurt Burgess (196-1982) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). The former international Tyrone Hall (190-1990, college: Queens, NY) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Guard Chance Leslie produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and American swingman Marquies Williams (193, college: LA Trade Tech) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Running Rebels and four Panthers players scored in double figures. Running Rebels have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Dream Ballers. Panthers lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost.
