BEBL Round 4 (Regular Season): Dream Ballers defeat Kings in the closest game of the week

This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of bottom-ranked City Kings (0-3) to fourth ranked Dream Ballers (3-2) 94-92 on Friday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American Deshawn Brackett (178-2001) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Kevon Laurie who added 14 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Nisani Mendez responded with 40 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Dream Ballers moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Kings still closes the standings with three games lost. Dream Ballers are looking forward to face Suns (#6) in the next round. Kings will play against Thunderbolts in Belize City and hope to get finally their first victory.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Panthers (2-2) against fourth ranked Dream Ballers (3-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Panthers were defeated by Dream Ballers in a tough game in Dangriga 62-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panthers. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The winners were led by forward Kevon Laurie who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Deshawn Brackett supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Marquis Cunningham (208-1995, college: UAPB) did not help to save the game for Panthers. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dream Ballers moved-up to second place. Panthers at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Western Ballaz and Thunderbolts. Dream Ballers will play against Suns (#6) in the next round. Panthers will play against the league's leader Tiger Sharks in San Pedro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very significant was Tiger Sharks' (#1, 4-0) victory against 3rd ranked Western Ballaz (2-2) 80-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Western Ballaz. American Malik Hunt (206-1997, college: Campbellsville) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international Brian White (196-1995, college: Wesley) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Dennis Flowers III (188-2001, college: ACU) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Darnell Oden added 20 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Tiger Sharks and four Western Ballaz players scored in double figures. Tiger Sharks have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record.
