Arik Nicholas claims Belizean BEBL Hoops Agents weekly honour

Arik Nicholas (196-F) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Western Ballaz and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The forward had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Thunderbolts (#3, 5-5) 79-66. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Western Ballaz maintains the 4th position in Belizean BEBL. Western Ballaz is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-4 record. In the team's last game Nicholas had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Western Ballaz, through which he has constantly improved. Arizona Christian University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Nicholas is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 9.6rpg) and averages solid 2.7bpg and 60.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Nisani Mendez (G ) of Capital City Kings. Mendez impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led City Kings to another comfortable win 92-79 over slightly lower-ranked Panthers (#7, 2-8) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Kings to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Mendez is one of the most experienced players at Kings and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Marquis Cunningham (208-F-1995) of Punta Gorda Panthers (#7). Cunningham showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, 18 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Cunningham's great performance the Panthers lost 79-92 to slightly higher-ranked Kings (#5, 3-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Panthers can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-8 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Cunningham has individually a great season in Belize. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.4ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 11.7rpg (3rd best).
