Nigel Jones claims Belizean BEBL Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced American Nigel Jones (201-F -1990) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Belize City Defenders and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 35-year old had a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, while his team edged out Western Ballers (#4, 6-4) 79-78. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Defenders to consolidate first place in the Belizean BEBL. Defenders have a solid 8-2 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Defenders, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Talladega College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is in league's top in points (7th best: 17.2ppg), rebounds (8th best: 8.8rpg) and averages solid 65.3% FGP. Worth to mention Jones played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Edward Hampton of San Pedro Tiger Sharks. Hampton impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 40 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Tiger Sharks lost that game 102-109 to the lower-ranked Trojans (#6, 2-9). Tiger Sharks managed to keep the same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 6-3 record is not bad at all. Hampton is one of the most experienced players at Tiger Sharks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.4ppg (#3). He also registered 7.2 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Corey Nickerson (203-PG) of Belmopan Trojans (#6). Nickerson scored 27 points and grabbed 22 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Trojans, leading his team to a 109-102 win against the higher-ranked Tiger Sharks (#3, 6-3). Trojans can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Nickerson has individually a great season in Belize. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.0rpg (3rd best).

7. Arik Nicholas (196-F) of Dream Ballers - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Mark Gordon (196-F/G) of Western Ballers - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Jihad Wright (193-F-1993) of Dream Ballers - 14 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Keon Rowland (G) of Tiger Sharks - 21 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
