Libobasquet Round 1: Rubair lose to CAN Potosi

The Regular Season in Libobasquet just started. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Rubair at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by CAN Potosi 91-78. CAN Potosi forced 23 Rubair turnovers and outrebounded them 35-24 including 16 on the offensive glass. Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-89) fired 26 points for the winners. The former international forward Cristhian Camargo (194-92) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-91, agency: Interperformances) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds for lost side.
Another exciting game was played in Sucre between Rubair and Amistad where Rubair crushed Amistad on the road with 31-point difference 106-75. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-91, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). Mike Liabo contributed with 25 points for the winners. Cuban forward Freddy Marin (202-92) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds for Amistad. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
The game in Sucre was also quite interesting. Pichincha played at the court of Amistad. Pichincha did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 97-80 on Friday. TJ Robinson stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Terrell Grobes responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Amistad's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win.



Rubair - CAN Potosi 78-91

Amistad - Pichincha 80-97

The game in Sucre was also quite interesting. Pichincha played at the court of Amistad. Pichincha did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 97-80 on Friday. American forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: LBSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-93) chipped in 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side American guard Terrell Grobes (198-93, college: WILMU) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Cuban forward Freddy Marin (202-92) scored 21 points. Four Amistad players scored in double figures. Amistad's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win.

Amistad - Rubair 75-106

Another exciting game was played in Sucre between Rubair and Amistad where Rubair crushed Amistad on the road with 31-point difference 106-75. Rubair dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Amistad's 42. They outrebounded Amistad 47-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. Rubair players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Amistad's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-91, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). American swingman Mike Liabo (198-91, college: UT Martin, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Liabo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Cuban forward Freddy Marin (202-92) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Carlos Romero (190-84) added 22 points and 6 assists in the effort for Amistad. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
