The game had a very big importance for second-ranked San Simon as it allowed them to take a leadership position. San Simon edged 4th placed Atomico at home 80-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atomico. San Simon made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Akil McClain (188-1997, college: IU Kokomo) who scored 31 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Andres Trujillo (-1999) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian Rodrigo Acuna (198-1995) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated San Simon (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Atomico at the other side keeps the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Saracho. Atomico will play next round against strong Leones trying to get back on the winning streak. San Simon will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Pichincha on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in . Sixth ranked Saracho (2-2) saved a 1-point victory at home edging bottom-ranked Univ.Sucre (0-3) 84-83 on Wednesday evening. Argentinian forward Facundo Sanz (197-1996, agency: BIG) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Nicolas Gimenez contributed with 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds for Univ.Sucre. Saracho moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Atomico. Univ.Sucre lost their third game in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Saracho will play against La Salle (#6) in Tarija in the next round. Univ.Sucre will play against Tenis and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Pichincha will meet at home league's leader San Simon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tenis will play against Univ.Sucre (#8) and look forward to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 5 UNITEP lost to undefeated Leones in a road game 50-86.



Leones - UNITEP 86-50

There was no surprise when 7th ranked UNITEP (1-4) was crushed on the road by leader Leones (4-0) 86-50 on Tuesday. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by UNITEP's players. Argentinian forward Norberto Stucky (198-1994) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Five Leones players scored in double figures. Argentinian Francisco Bonja responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Argentinian Nicolas Rodriguez scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Leones. They maintain second place with 4-0 record behind leader San Simon. UNITEP lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. Leones will meet Atomico (#4) in the next round. UNITEP will have a break next round.
