San Simon - Tenis 111-68 Bottom-ranked Tenis is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 11th consecutive match to third ranked San Simon (8-3) 111-68 on Tuesday evening. San Simon forced 19 Tenis turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tenis' players. American guard Akil McClain (188-1997, college: IU Kokomo) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Andres Trujillo (-1999) accounted for 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. McClain is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five San Simon players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. Martin Rios came up with 29 points and 4 steals and Facundo Moran added 15 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Tenis in the defeat. San Simon maintains third place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Pichincha. Tenis lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. San Simon will meet Atomico (#5) in the next round. Tenis will play against the league's leader Pichincha (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory. Atomico held UNITEP to an opponent 23.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded UNITEP 45-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Argentinian guard Erbel De Pietro (185-1988) nailed 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and guard Agustin Carreon (-2000) accounted for 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Atomico players scored in double figures. Forward Esteban Covarrubias (190-2001) came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds and Argentinian Nicolas Rodriguez added 25 points and 4 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) respectively for UNITEP in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atomico moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Saracho. UNITEP lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Atomico will meet at home higher ranked San Simon (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UNITEP will play against the league's second-placed Leones (#2) and hope to secure a win. Second ranked Leones managed to get a 13-point victory 88-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of La Salle. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian forward Norberto Stucky (198-1994) contributed with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian Joaquin Gamazo (198-1991) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Mateo Ortiz (-2000) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for La Salle. Four La Salle players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones maintains second place with 9-2 record behind leader Pichincha. La Salle at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Leones are looking forward to face UNITEP (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. La Salle will have a break next round. This time they crushed fifth ranked Saracho (6-5) 97-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Saracho. They outrebounded Saracho 46-29 including 36 on the defensive glass. American forward Hunter Preston (201, college: Columbus St.) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and Diego Santana chipped in 11 points and 21 rebounds. Four Pichincha players scored in double figures. Pichincha's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Argentinian forward Facundo Sanz (197-1996, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds and Argentinian power forward Nicolas Gimenez (203-1994) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Pichincha have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Saracho at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Atomico. Pichincha will play against bottom-ranked Tenis (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saracho will play against Univ.Sucre (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
