Univ.Sucre - Saracho 76-82 The game in Sucre was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Saracho (7-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Univ.Sucre (2-9). Saracho managed to secure a 6-point victory 82-76 on Saturday. Saracho made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saracho made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Facundo Sanz (197-1996, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. Felipe Vedia chipped in 22 points. Jose Choque (-1990) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Saracho and five Univ.Sucre players scored in double figures. Saracho moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Atomico. Univ.Sucre lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Saracho will meet at home La Salle (#6) in the next round. Univ.Sucre will play against Tenis and it may be a tough game between close rivals. San Simon was crushed by Atomico on the road 86-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of San Simon. Argentinian point guard Juan Morales (183-1994) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian Rodrigo Acuna (198-1995) chipped in 25 points during the contest. Argentinian power forward Gianfranco Sinconi (204-1994) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Andres Trujillo (-1999) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atomico moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Saracho. San Simon at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Atomico is looking forward to face league's second-placed Leones in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to UNITEP's 28 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Leones forced 27 UNITEP turnovers and had a 25-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) who scored 46 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). The former international point guard Ronald Arze (175-1993) chipped in 20 points. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Argentinian Nicolas Rodriguez produced 33 points (!!!) and 4 steals and center Diego Soto (-1986) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-2 record behind leader Pichincha. UNITEP lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Leones will meet at home Atomico (#4) in the next round. UNITEP will have a break next round. This time they crushed ninth ranked Tenis (0-12) 112-55. Pichincha dominated down low during the game scoring 90 of its points in the paint compared to Tenis' 40. They outrebounded Tenis 63-25 including a 26-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pichincha players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Tenis' players. American forward Hunter Preston (201, college: Columbus St.) notched a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and Diego Santana supported him with 29 points, 22 rebounds, 8 assists and 8 steals. Pichincha's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by Facundo Moran did not help to save the game for Tenis. Martin Rios added 17 points for the guests. Pichincha have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. Tenis at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Pichincha will play against San Simon (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tenis will play against Univ.Sucre (#7) and hope to get finally their first victory.
