Libobasquet 2023 to start on March 14th with 11 teams

The Bolivian Basketball Federation confirmed through the Competitions Comission that the upcoming 2023 season of Libobasquet will start on March 14th with a total of 11 participating teams, after having announced February 28th as the initial date for first round to start.

Technical reasons were quoted as to why the date was postponed for a couple of weeks. Three former LNB franchises are now becoming part of Libobasquet: Carl-AZ Oruro, CAN Oruro and Nacional Potosi.

Meanwhile, Basquetbol La Paz will replace Tenis Club La Paz, who decided not to participate due to finantial reasons.

The other 7 teams joining Carl-AZ, CAN Oruro, Nacional Potosi and Basquetbol La Paz will be the title holders Pichincha, runner-up Atomico Calero, Saracho, Leones de Potosi, San Simon de Cochabamba, Universitario de Sucre and La Salle de Tarija.

In the first round, all teams will face each opponent twice between March 14th and June 17h and an All-Star Game will be played on June 21st. The Quarter Finals will start on June 23rd, the Semifinals will take place between July 4th and the 10th and the Finals will be played between July 14th and the 21st.

Pichincha defeated Atomico Calero in the Libobasquet 2022 Finals with a roster that included national players Pedro Gutierrez (182-SG-1996) and Rene Calvo (193-F/G-1993).
