The most shocking disappointment of round 5 was a home defeat of 5th ranked La Paz (2-3) to sixth ranked Univ.Sucre (3-2) 93-81. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Univ.Sucre made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while La Paz only scored six points from the stripe. Univ.Sucre had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by La Paz helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Atletico Nacional (3-2) against fifth ranked Pichincha (3-2) on Thursday night. Visiting Atletico Nacional was defeated by Pichincha in Pichincha 93-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atletico Nacional. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Saracho. The best player for the winners was Sidney Umude who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Daniel Simon produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks for the guests. Saracho's coach Hugo Turilli gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Carl A-Z moved-up to seventh place, which they share with La Paz. Loser Saracho keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.

In the last game of round 5 bottom-ranked Leones lost to CAN Oruro on the opponent's court 66-76.
