The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pichincha as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pichincha defeated 3rd ranked Univ.Sucre at home 88-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Univ.Sucre. Pichincha forced 20 Univ.Sucre turnovers. Roberto Orresta contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American guard DMonta Harris (196-1997, college: Midwestern St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for Atletico Nacional. Carl A-Z moved-up to seventh place, which they share with San Simon. Atletico Nacional at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Carl A-Z will play against La Paz (#9) at home in the next round. Atletico Nacional will have a break next round.

Felipe De Paula had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Daniel Simon responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Calero have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Saracho. Calero will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saracho will play against the league's leader Pichincha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was no surprise when 9th ranked La Paz (2-6) was defeated at home by second ranked Pichincha (6-2) 117-104 on Thursday. Pichincha made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by La Paz's players. Argentinian Eduardo Gamboa (189-1984) scored 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Eric Lovett (196, college: FIU) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Irin Stark (185-1989, college: STAC) responded with 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Claudio Gonzales (193-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds.
