Haylen Washington claims Bolivian Libobasquet weekly honour- June 24, 2023
The 28-year old guard had a double-double of 40 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team beat La Paz (#10, 3-11) 101-93. Univ.Sucre is placed at 4th position in Bolivian Libobasquet. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Univ.Sucre will need more victories to improve their 8-6 record. In the team's last game Washington had a remarkable eight three-pointers out of 14 attempts. He just recently signed at Univ.Sucre, being already a very valuable addition to the team. College of Coastal Georgia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Washington is in league's top in points (4th best: 22.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 10.4rpg) and averages solid 56.0% FGP. Worth to mention Washington played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Irin Stark (185-G-1989) of La Paz. Stark impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as La Paz lost that game 93-101 to the higher-ranked Univ.Sucre (#4, 8-6). La Paz are still at the very bottom. 11 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories La Paz managed to get this year. Stark is one of the most experienced players at La Paz and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.4ppg (#3). He also registered 7.6 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Rolando Vallejos (195-SF-2000) of San Simon (#3). Vallejos showcased his all-around game by recording 27 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. Despite Vallejos' great performance San Simon lost 81-85 to #1 ranked Pichincha. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing San Simon needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 8 victories and 5 lost games. Vallejos has a great season in Bolivia. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.4ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 11.4rpg (3rd best) and assists with 4.7apg (best passer). He also has FGP: 66.7% and 3PT: 41.1%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Rene Calvo (193-F/G-1993) of Pichincha - 27 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Juan Martin Bello (200-F-1999) of CAN Oruro - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Milos Petkovic (204-F/C-1991) of San Simon - 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Julian Morales) of Leones - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Dariel Maza (C-1991) of La Paz - 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Torey James (198-G-2000) of Univ.Sucre - 16 points and 9 rebounds 10. Claudio Gonzales (193-SF-2004) of La Paz - 27 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
