Juan Cruz Oberto
25-year old power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-F/C-1997) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Calero and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat San Simon (#3, 8-6) 76-71. Calero is placed at 5th position in Bolivian league. Calero is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-7 record. In the team's last game Oberto had a remarkable 52.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Calero, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Juan Cruz Oberto averages just after three games 21.3ppg and 9.7rpg.
Second best performed player last round was Diego Romero (206-C-1982) of Carl A-Z. He is Argentinian center in his first season at Carl A-Z. In the last game Romero recorded impressive double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Carl A-Z lost that game 70-79 to slightly lower-ranked Saracho (#8, 6-8). This loss caused Carl A-Z to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Romero is one of the most experienced players at Carl A-Z and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Alejo Traverso (179-PG-1998) of Saracho (#8). Traverso showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Saracho, leading his team to a 79-70 win against slightly higher-ranked Carl A-Z (#6, 7-7). The chances of Saracho ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 8 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Traverso could help Saracho to bring them higher in the standings. Traverso has a very solid season. In 5 games in Bolivia he scored 24.0ppg.
