Libobasquet Round 21: CAN Oruro defeats leader Pichincha

The Regular Season in Libobasquet just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Pichincha (11-5) on the court of seventh ranked CAN Oruro on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by CAN Oruro 79-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pichincha. CAN Oruro looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Deondre Wade (194, college: Seminole St.) who saved his team from a defeat with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian forward Juan Martin Bello (200-1999) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Eric Lovett (196, college: FIU) answered with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for Pichincha. Despite that victory CAN Oruro went down to ninth position due to points difference. Defending champion Pichincha still keeps top place with five games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Sucre. Third ranked Carl A-Z (10-7) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Univ.Sucre (9-7) 78-76 in the game for the second place. Argentinian center Diego Romero (206-1982, college: FSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Roberto Orresta chipped in 27 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Carl A-Z have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Univ.Sucre at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Atletico Nacional and San Simon.
A very close game took place in Oruro (derby !!!) between CAN Oruro and Saracho. Seventh ranked CAN Oruro (6-9) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Saracho (7-9). CAN Oruro managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 on Thursday evening. Deondre Wade nailed 27 points for the winning side. CAN Oruro's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Daniel Simon came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for Saracho in the defeat. Despite that victory CAN Oruro went down to ninth position due to points difference. Loser Saracho dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Calero and Leones.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: Atletico Nacional beat Calero on the road 73-67. Pichincha destroyed La Paz on its own court 97-75. Univ.Sucre unfortunately lost to San Simon in Cochabamba 96-104.
The most impressive performance of 21th round was 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by Andres Trujillo of San Simon.

Univ.Sucre - Carl A-Z 76-78

Calero - Atletico Nacional 67-73

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Atletico Nacional (9-7) beat 6th ranked Calero (7-9) in Potosi 73-67 on Thursday. Atletico Nacional made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Atletico Nacional outrebounded Calero 44-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Atletico Nacional made 7 blocks. Cuban-\n guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) nailed 40 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian Rodrigo Acuna (198-1995) accounted for 7 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Atletico Nacional's coach Enrique Lancelotti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Trey Jones (188-1998, college: Bluefield) added 17 points respectively for Calero in the defeat. Despite that victory Atletico Nacional went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Univ.Sucre and San Simon. Loser Calero keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Leones and Saracho.

Cuban guard Daniel Simon (185-1996) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Cristhian Delgado (184-1993) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Saracho in the defeat. Very expected game when 10th ranked La Paz (5-11) was smashed on the road by first ranked Pichincha (11-5) 97-75 on Wednesday. Pichincha forced 19 La Paz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American swingman Jonathan Greenfield (190, college: Lehman) nailed 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Argentinian Eduardo Gamboa (189-1984) accounted for 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Pichincha's coach Giovanny Vargas felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Irin Stark (185-1989, college: STAC) came up with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and forward Jorge Beltran (196-1988) added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for La Paz in the defeat. Five Pichincha and four La Paz players scored in double figures. Pichincha have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-5 record. Loser La Paz stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost.

Rather predictable result when third ranked San Simon (9-7) won against 5th ranked Univ.Sucre (9-7) in Cochabamba 104-96 on Tuesday. San Simon looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Argentinian Rolando Vallejos (195-2000) nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Andres Trujillo (184-1999) accounted for 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Amado Ledezma (185-2004) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Univ.Sucre in the defeat. Four Univ.Sucre players scored in double figures. San Simon maintains third place with 9-7 record having just two points less than leader Pichincha, which they share with Univ.Sucre and Atletico Nacional.
