The former international point guard Ronald Arze (175-1993) fired 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American forward James Edmond (205-1991, college: Lincoln, MO) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Leones players scored in double figures. The former international forward Cristhian Camargo (194-1992) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Cuban-\n guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-1993) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. American swingman Eric Lovett (196, college: FIU) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Pichincha's coach Giovanny Vargas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Argentinian center Diego Romero (206-1982, college: FSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds and Samuel Valverde (-1999) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Carl A-Z.
