Libobasquet Round 5 (Regular Season): Tarija Basquet edge Univ.Sucre by two points

The most exciting game of round 5 in the Libobasquet took place in Sucre. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Univ.Sucre (2-3) to second ranked Tarija Basquet (5-1) 90-88 on Wednesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Tarija Basquet have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader CAN Potosi. Univ.Sucre at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with CAN Oruro and Kinwa. Tarija Basquet are looking forward to face Saracho (#8) in Oruro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Univ.Sucre will play on the road against Pichincha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Oruro: Saracho (#5) and CAN Oruro (#5). Saracho (2-4) won against visiting CAN Oruro (2-3) 102-96. Despite that victory Saracho went down to eighth position due to points difference. CAN Oruro at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Kinwa and Univ.Sucre. Saracho will play against league's second-placed Tarija Basquet in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CAN Oruro will play against the league's leader CAN Potosi and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Undefeated leader CAN Potosi delivered the fifth consecutive win on Friday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Kinwa (2-3) 91-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kinwa. Undefeated CAN Potosi (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Loser Kinwa keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with CAN Oruro and Univ.Sucre. CAN Potosi will meet CAN Oruro (#5) on the road in the next round. Kinwa will play against Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 5 winless La Paz was crushed by Leones in Potosi 97-70. Carl A-Z was beaten by Pichincha at home 74-88.




Saracho - CAN Oruro 102-96

There was no surprise in Potosi where bottom-ranked La Paz (0-5) was crushed by fifth ranked Leones (3-2) 97-70 on Thursday. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser La Paz still closes the standings with five games lost. Leones will meet Kinwa (#6) in the next round. La Paz will play against Carl A-Z (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
