The most exciting game of round 17 in the Libobasquet took place in Pichincha. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Pichincha (12-6) to fifth ranked CAN Oruro (10-8) 77-75 on Friday evening. Argentinian Wilfredo Alvarez stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Jose Gil chipped in 20 points. American center Amadi Ikpeze (208, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. CAN Oruro maintains fifth place with 10-8 record. Pichincha at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost.
Libobasquet top team - CAN Potosi (16-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Univ.Sucre (8-9) 80-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Univ.Sucre. Cuban-\n guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) nailed 23 points and 7 assists for the winning side and Paolo Ramos accounted for 13 points and 4 assists. Swingman Amado Ledezma (185-2004) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for Univ.Sucre in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CAN Potosi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Univ.Sucre at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost.
Eighth ranked Saracho (5-13) crushed at home 10th ranked La Paz (1-17) by 60 points 125-65, which is the biggest margin this round on Monday night. The best player for the winners was Alejandro Vedia who scored 25 points and 4 assists. Saracho's coach Dariel Sotero felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jonathan Greenfield produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the guests. Saracho maintains eighth place with 5-13 record, which they share with Kinwa. La Paz lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 17 lost games.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 17: Carl A-Z was destroyed by Leones on the opponent's court 82-55. Kinwa managed to outperform Saracho in a home game 85-72. Tarija Basquet rolled over La Paz on the road 103-72.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points and 11 rebounds by Jamar Sandifer of Tarija Basquet.




Saracho - La Paz 125-65

Eighth ranked Saracho (5-13) crushed at home 10th ranked La Paz (1-17) by 60 points 125-65, which is the biggest margin this round on Monday night. Saracho dominated down low during the game scoring 94 of its points in the paint compared to La Paz's 34. Saracho forced 32 La Paz turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Saracho looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by La Paz's players. The best player for the winners was Alejandro Vedia (-1997) who scored 25 points and 4 assists. Cuban guard Daniel Simon (185-1996) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Saracho players scored in double figures. Saracho's coach Dariel Sotero felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Jonathan Greenfield (190, college: Lehman) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and Jheysson Castro added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Rather expected game in Potosi where 7th ranked Carl A-Z (6-11) was crushed by fourth ranked Leones (11-6) 82-55 on Monday. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Carl A-Z's 28. They outrebounded Carl A-Z 43-30 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Martin Ochoa (185-1994) who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Argentinian Rolando Vallejos (195-2000) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Argentinian point guard Roberto Orresta (177-1991) produced 16 points and the former international center Andre Ribera (206-1999) added 3 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 11-6 record. Carl A-Z lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Kinwa (5-13) defeated at home 8th ranked Saracho (5-13) 85-72 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Argentinian guard Juan Cognigni (192-1990) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Argentinian power forward Edgardo Torne (198-1989, agency: BIG) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Five Kinwa players scored in double figures. Cuban guard Daniel Simon (185-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and Argentinian Alvaro Caraffa (199-2000, agency: BIG) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Saracho's coach Dariel Sotero rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kinwa moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Saracho.
