Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) scored 29 points to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-1991) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Argentinian power forward Edgardo Torne (198-1989, agency: BIG) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Samuel Valverde (-1999) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

American center Amadi Ikpeze (208, college: St.Bonaventure) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Axel Veizaga (182-1996) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Pichincha players scored in double figures. American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) replied with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import Omarayon Turner (196) added 17 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Univ.Sucre. Univ.Sucre's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
