The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-1993) who scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Jamar Sandifer (193-1997, college: SWOSU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Mateo Ortiz (199-2000) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Tarija Basquet players scored in double figures. American center Amadi Ikpeze (208, college: St.Bonaventure) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Joshua Morris added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Pichincha. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
