CAN Potosi made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). The former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-1993) contributed with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Ecuadorian center Jordan Cardenas (206-1998, college: FNU, agency: BIG) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and the former international swingman Mateo Ortiz (199-2000) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Tarija Basquet. Four Tarija Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Pichincha's 34. They outrebounded Pichincha 45-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian Rolando Vallejos (195-2000) who scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-1997) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Alexis Flores (-2001) produced 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international point guard Celmar Alanes (180-1997) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
