Carl A-Z edged Calero in Oruro 78-75. Carl A-Z had a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cuban guard Daniel Simon (185-1996) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Alejandro Vedia (-1997) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Esteban Covarrubias (190-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Calero will play next round against strong Kinwa trying to get back on the winning streak. Carl A-Z will try to continue on its current victory against Leones in Potosi.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Pichincha at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Leones 62-57. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Ronald Arze (175-1993) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Diego Olguin contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-1991) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for Pichincha. An interesting game where Pichincha beat host CAN Oruro 95-83 on Friday evening. Celmar Alanes stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. At the losing side Omarayon Turner responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds. CAN Oruro's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Pichincha will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
