Libobasquet Round 1 (Regular Season): Carl A-Z keep a leadership position

The Regular Season in Libobasquet just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Carl A-Z edged Calero in Oruro 78-75. Carl A-Z had a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cuban guard Daniel Simon (185-1996) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Alejandro Vedia (-1997) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Esteban Covarrubias (190-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Calero will play next round against strong Kinwa trying to get back on the winning streak. Carl A-Z will try to continue on its current victory against Leones in Potosi.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Pichincha at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Leones 62-57. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Ronald Arze (175-1993) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Diego Olguin contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-1991) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for Pichincha. Leones will play against CAN Oruro on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pichincha will have a break next round.
An interesting game where Pichincha beat host CAN Oruro 95-83 on Friday evening. Celmar Alanes stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. At the losing side Omarayon Turner responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds. CAN Oruro's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Pichincha will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CAN Oruro will play against Leones and hope to win that game.

Other games of round 1 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless CAN Oruro lost to undefeated Kinwa in a road game 83-91. Winless Calero lost to defending champion CAN Potosi at home 59-74. Univ.Sucre won against CAN Potosi on the opponent's court 77-76.

Kinwa - CAN Oruro 91-83

There was no surprise when CAN Oruro was defeated on the road by Kinwa 91-83 on Tuesday. Kinwa dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to CAN Oruro's 30. They outrebounded CAN Oruro 35-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Jose Perez (191-2000) stepped up and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international point guard Axel Veizaga (182-1996) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Kinwa players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Sergio Herbas (-2003) responded with 25 points and 7 assists and Ruben Calvetty (-2001) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. CAN Oruro's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kinwa will meet at home Calero in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CAN Oruro will play against Leones and hope to win that game.

An interesting game where Pichincha beat host CAN Oruro 95-83 on Friday evening. Pichincha outrebounded CAN Oruro 49-29 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Pichincha especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. International point guard Celmar Alanes (180-1997) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-1991) chipped in 20 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side American Omarayon Turner (196) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Sergio Herbas (-2003) scored 17 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Four Pichincha and five CAN Oruro players scored in double figures. CAN Oruro's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The former international forward Cristhian Camargo (194-1992) stepped up and scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Carlos Gonzales (-2002) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. CAN Potosi's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Esteban Covarrubias (190-2001) responded with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Luis Careaga (-1992) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. The game between closely ranked teams ended with CAN Potosi's home loss to Univ.Sucre 76-77 on Wednesday. American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-1993) chipped in 19 points and 12 rebounds. Washington is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Univ.Sucre players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Luis Mercado (205-1997) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Cristhian Camargo (194-1992) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. CAN Potosi's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Univ.Sucre will meet at home Kinwa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
