Round 12 most important game was a victory of Sao Paulo over 5th ranked Flamengo 68-65 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Flamengo. It was a good game for center Matheus Maciel (206-2001) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Matheus Weber (195-2000) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Power forward Rafael Rachel (205-2000) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds for Flamengo. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sao Paulo (8-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position behind leader Pinheiros. Flamengo at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Praia.
Very important is a home loss of Botafogo (0-0) against fifth ranked Cearense (5-4) on Sunday night. Host Botafogo unexpectedly was defeated by in Rio de Janeiro 72-77. Worth to mention a great performance of Leonardo Cravero (200-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Carlos Farias who added 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Joao Macedo (202-2002) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cearense moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bauru and Caxias do Sul. Botafogo at the other side still closes the standings with 0 game lost. Cearense will play against Vasco da Gama (#7) on the road in the next round. Botafogo will play against Bauru (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Cerrado (7-2) against tenth ranked Rio Claro (2-7) on Sunday night. Host Cerrado was defeated by Rio Claro in Brasilia 72-59. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Cerrado. The winners were led by Arthur Costa who scored that evening 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by Ruan Miranda did not help to save the game for Cerrado. Cerrado's coach Giovanni Martins rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rio Claro maintains tenth position with 2-7 record. Loser Cerrado keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Corinthians. There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: UniFacisa beat Brasilia on the road 74-61. Minas won against Mogi on its own court 90-75. Pato managed to outperform Campo Mourao in Pato Branco 72-61. Praia recorded a loss to Sao Jose at home 74-78. Paulistano crushed Uniao Corinthians on the opponent's court 70-47. Coritiba beat Bauru in a home game 64-57. Corinthians won against Vasco da Gama on the road 72-67. Caxias do Sul managed to outperform Franca on its own court 66-60.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 15 points and 8 rebounds by Lukas Santos of Rio Claro.

Brasilia - UniFacisa 61-74

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked UniFacisa and bottom-ranked Brasilia had identical 0-9 record. But Brasilia was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Paraiba 74-61 on Saturday night. Strangely Brasilia outrebounded UniFacisa 48-35 including a 14-3 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Matheus Pinheiro (-2001) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and Iure Sousa (-2001) supported him with 22 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 13 points and 23 rebounds by forward Carlos Silva (196-2003) did not help to save the game for Brasilia. Point guard Gabriel Vilarinho (181-2004) added 19 points. UniFacisa (1-9) left bottom position moving up to tenth place. It was Brasilia's tenth loss in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost.
