CBB Round 3: Cruzeiro loses their first game against Santos- March 26, 2023
CBB is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 3 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Vitoria - Brusque 49-59 Brusque (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat Vitoria (0-4) in Salvador 59-49. Brusque made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Vitoria turnovers. The best player for the winners was Samuel Santos (187-1999) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Andre Mendes (192-1993) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Brusque players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Arthur Vasconcelos (185-1994) who recorded 17 points and Gabriel Vargas (195-1998) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Vitoria's coach Marcelo Berro tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Blumenau outrebounded Vitoria 51-30 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Leonardo Cravero (200-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Lucas Farina (186-1995) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 assists and 4 steals. Five Blumenau players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Edu de Oliveira (195-1983, college: EOSC) who recorded 10 points and 9 rebounds and guard Victor Pedreira (191-1996) added 11 points respectively. Visitors were defeated by Santos 79-73. Santos forced 26 Cruzeiro turnovers. It was a great evening for power forward Dida Pereira (202-1992, college: Sequoias CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Alef Alves (185-1995) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Santos players scored in double figures. Cruzeiro will play against Praia and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Forward Guilherme Estevao (204-2000) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Forward Rafael Santos (200-1999) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Gustavo Ruiz (190-1995) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Santos in the defeat. Santos' coach Daniel Correa Leque rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Praia will play against Cruzeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
