CBB Round 3: Cruzeiro loses their first game against Santos

CBB is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 3 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Cruzeiro (3-1) on the court of Santos on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Santos 79-73. Santos forced 26 Cruzeiro turnovers. It was a great evening for power forward Dida Pereira (202-1992, college: Sequoias CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Alef Alves (185-1995) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Pedro Lima (191-1987) with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santos is looking forward to face Sorocabana (#4) on the road in the next round. Cruzeiro will play against Praia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in . host Santos (3-1) lost to Praia (3-1) 66-58. It was an exceptional evening for guard Raffael Mencarini (187-2001) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Guilherme Estevao accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Rafael Santos (200-1999) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds for Santos in the defeat. Santos' coach Daniel Correa Leque rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Praia will play against Cruzeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santos will play against Sorocabana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Brusque (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat Vitoria (0-4) in Salvador 59-49. The best player for the winners was Samuel Santos who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Arthur Vasconcelos who recorded 17 points. Vitoria's coach Marcelo Berro tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Brusque will meet Blumenau on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vitoria will play against Osasco and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 3 Blumenau destroyed Vitoria on the opponent's court 82-62.

Vitoria - Brusque 49-59

Brusque (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat Vitoria (0-4) in Salvador 59-49. Brusque made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Vitoria turnovers. The best player for the winners was Samuel Santos (187-1999) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Andre Mendes (192-1993) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Brusque players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Arthur Vasconcelos (185-1994) who recorded 17 points and Gabriel Vargas (195-1998) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Rather expected game in Salvador where Vitoria (0-4) was crushed by Blumenau (3-1) 82-62 on Wednesday. Blumenau outrebounded Vitoria 51-30 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Leonardo Cravero (200-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Lucas Farina (186-1995) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 assists and 4 steals. Five Blumenau players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Edu de Oliveira (195-1983, college: EOSC) who recorded 10 points and 9 rebounds and guard Victor Pedreira (191-1996) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blumenau will meet at home Brusque in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
