LBF Round 1 (Regular Season): Sao Jose lose to Corinthians

The Regular Season in LBF just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sao Jose in Vila Medon on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Corinthians 72-58. International guard Alana Goncalo (166-1994) fired 21 points for the winners. The former international guard Beatriz Oliveira (169-1995) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Guard Jennifer Munoz (170-1991) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Corinthians are looking forward to face Blumenau on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Jose will play against Mesquita and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another exciting game was between Ourinhos and Santo Andre where Ourinhos beat Santo Andre on the road 73-65. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Jeanne Morais (176-1985) who helped to win the game recording 16 points. Gabrielly Parro contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. Ourinhos' coach Marcio Pereira allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international power forward Leticia Rodrigues (187-1995) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for Santo Andre. Ourinhos will play against SESI in Araraquara in the next round. Santo Andre will play at home against Sampaio to get more than just one victory in their record.
Very important is a road loss of Campinas against SESI on Sunday night. Visiting Campinas was crushed by SESI in Araraquara 75-50. Vitoria Domingos stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Izabella Sangalli responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SESI will meet Ourinhos on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Campinas will play against Sampaio and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 1 Maringa defeated Blumenau in a road game 62-58. Sampaio smashed Cerrado at home 92-52.

There was no surprise when Blumenau was defeated at home by Maringa 62-58 on Saturday. Forward Thailane Monteiro (185-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and center Lorena Silva (189-1998) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side Uruguayan Maite Pereira (176-2004) responded with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Melissa Oliveira (180-2001) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Maringa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Blumenau will play against Corinthians and hope to win that game.

Another exciting game was between Ourinhos and Santo Andre where Ourinhos beat Santo Andre on the road 73-65. They outrebounded Santo Andre 48-31 including a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds.
