LBF Round 11 (Regular Season): Sampaio defeat Cerrado in the game between Top 4 teams

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An interesting game for Sampaio (12-0) which hosted in Sampaio Basquete 4th placed Cerrado (7-4). Leader Sampaio had an easy win 86-66. Sampaio looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Jailin Cherry (170-1999, college: LSU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Monique Soares (190-1996) contributed with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. International forward Vanessa Goncalves (180-1994) answered with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Cerrado. Undefeated Sampaio have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-0 record. Cerrado at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Sampaio are looking forward to face Mesquita (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cerrado will play against the league's second-placed SESI and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between third ranked SESI (11-2) and 10th ranked Salvador (1-12) in Araraquara ended with biggest points difference. SESI outscored guests from 77-45. Worth to mention a quality performance of point guard Mikaelly Freitas (170-2006) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 5 assists. Maisa Marcal helped adding 12 points and 5 assists. SESI's coach Fabio Appolinario felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Tayna Reis (170-1996) responded with 19 points and 4 assists. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for SESI. They moved-up to second place. Salvador lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. SESI will play against Cerrado (#4) in Brasilia in the next round. Salvador will play at home against Santo Andre (#5) to get more than just one victory in their record.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11: Mesquita was beaten by Santo Andre on the road 87-82. SESI won against Recife on its own court 73-65. Bottom-ranked Salvador was outscored by Maringa in a road game 79-48.
The most impressive performance of 11th round was 10 points and 5 assists by Isabele Koerich of SESI.

Santo Andre - Mesquita 87-82

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Santo Andre (6-6) beat at home 7th ranked Mesquita (4-9) 87-82. Santo Andre made 25-of-33 charity shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Santo Andre brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Mesquita was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Marcella Prande (180-2005) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks. The former international center Clarissa Dos Santos (188-1988) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Five Santo Andre players scored in double figures. American guard Jayla Crawford (170-2000, college: Alabama St., agency: Interperformances) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Connie Clarke (178-2001, college: MWSU, agency: Interperformances) scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Santo Andre maintains fifth place with 6-6 record. Mesquita at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Santo Andre will play against bottom-ranked Salvador (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mesquita will play against the league's leader Sampaio in Sampaio Basquete and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Power forward Evelyn Mariano (180-1997) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Mayara Leoncio responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and center Jenyff Moura (185-2001) scored 7 points and 12 rebounds. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for SESI. They moved-up to second place. Recife at the other side dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. SESI will play against Cerrado (#4) in Brasilia in the next round. Recife will play at home against Santo Andre (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
