LBF Round 2 (Regular Season): Mesquita lose to Sao Jose

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LBF. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Mesquita recorded a loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Sao Jose 67-61. Sao Jose outrebounded Mesquita 49-31 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Colombian guard Manuela Rios (163-1997) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Mayara Marins (175-1997) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds. Colombian guard Mayra Caicedo (161-2000, college: Tarleton St.) produced 21 points for the hosts. Sao Jose is looking forward to face Campinas at home in the next round where they are favorite. Mesquita will play against Sampaio in Sampaio Basquete and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was between SESI and Ourinhos where SESI beat Ourinhos on the road 68-64. The former international Vitoria Domingos (181-1996) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 9 rebounds. Evelyn Mariano contributed with 7 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Maisa Marcal (178-2000, college: GCU) replied with 17 points and 4 assists for Ourinhos. Ourinhos' coach Marcio Pereira tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SESI will play against Blumenau at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ourinhos will play against Cerrado and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Blumenau supposed to be also quite interesting. Corinthians played at the court of Blumenau. Corinthians smashed Blumenau 82-53 on Thursday. Ariadna Felipe scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. Petula Ferreira responded with 18 points. Blumenau's coach Andre Soares gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Corinthians will meet at home Santo Andre in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blumenau will play against SESI in Araraquara and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 2 Sampaio crushed Santo Andre in Sampaio Basquete 106-63. Winless Campinas lost to undefeated Sampaio at home 72-94.

Blumenau - Corinthians 53-82

The game in Blumenau supposed to be also quite interesting. Corinthians played at the court of Blumenau. Corinthians smashed Blumenau 82-53 on Thursday. Corinthians forced 23 Blumenau turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Corinthians looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Swingman Ariadna Felipe (180-1983) scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Mariana Queiroz (190-1997) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Corinthians players scored in double figures. Center Petula Ferreira (184-2002, college: Weatherford JC) responded with 18 points and power forward Melissa Oliveira (180-2001) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Santo Andre - Sampaio 63-106

There was no surprise when Santo Andre was crushed at home by Sampaio 106-63 on Saturday. Sampaio dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Santo Andre's 28 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Santo Andre 39-23 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sampaio looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Santo Andre's players. The former international power forward Gabriela Guimaraes (180-1996) scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest. Five Sampaio players scored in double figures. Sampaio's coach David Pelosini felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international power forward Leticia Rodrigues (187-1995) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Brenda Bleidao (177-2003) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when Sampaio smashed on the road Campinas 94-72 on Monday. Sampaio made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. International forward Vanessa Goncalves (180-1994) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Lays Silva (166-1998, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 19 points and 10 assists during the contest. Sampaio's coach David Pelosini felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Izabella Sangalli (182-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and Argentinian Agustina Marin (170-2003) scored 11 points and 6 assists. Five Sampaio and four Campinas players scored in double figures. Sampaio will meet at home Mesquita in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
