Sampaio defeated Mesquita in Sampaio Basquete 57-44. Sampaio held Mesquita to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Mesquita 57-37 including a 42-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international power forward Gabriela Guimaraes (180-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Carina Martins (171-1992) contributed with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Center Brenda Barros (185-2000) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for Mesquita. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mesquita will play next round against Campinas trying to get back on the winning streak. Sampaio will try to continue on its current victory against Sao Jose at home.
Maringa (1-1) recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Cerrado (1-2) 80-75. Cerrado will play against Sao Jose (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maringa will play against Santo Andre to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Ourinhos was also quite interesting. Cerrado (1-2) played at the court of Ourinhos (2-1). Ourinhos defeated Cerrado 72-59 on Thursday. It was an exceptional evening for Maisa Marcal who led the winners and scored 20 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Mia Hopkins came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds for Cerrado in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ourinhos will meet Blumenau (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cerrado will play against Sao Jose and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: winless Santo Andre lost to undefeated Corinthians on the road 50-85. SESI destroyed Blumenau on its own court 81-44. Winless Campinas unfortunately lost to Sao Jose in a road game 61-65.
Maringa - Cerrado 75-80Maringa (1-1) recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by
