Brazilian LBF round 5 best performance: Agustina Marin

Argentinian Shooting guard Agustina Marin (170-SG-2003) had a very impressive game in the last round for Unimed Campinas Basquete, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 21-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, three rebounds and five assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Cerrado (#8, 2-5) 77-72. Campinas is placed at 6th position in Brazilian LBF. Campinas is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-3 record. In the team's last game Marin had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 6 attempts. She just recently signed at Campinas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Agustina Marin averages this season 11.4ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Colombian Mayra Caicedo (161-G-2000) of Sodie Mesquita. Caicedo had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Of course she led Mesquita to another comfortable win 69-53 over the higher-ranked Corinthians (#4, 3-2) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Mesquita to move up to 7th position in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Caicedo is one of the most experienced players at Mesquita and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Campinas' star - Italian Izabella Sangalli (182-SF-1995). Sangalli scored 26 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. She was another key player of Unimed Campinas Basquete, helping her team with a 77-72 win against slightly lower-ranked Cerrado (#8, 2-5). The chances of Campinas ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Sangalli could help Campinas to bring them higher in the standings. Sangalli has a great season in Brazil. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.8ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 12.4rpg (#1 in league). Izabella Sangalli has also Brazilian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
