LBF Round 7 (Regular Season): SESI keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked SESI as it allowed them to take a leadership position. SESI smashed 9th ranked Maringa in Araraquara 87-43. SESI forced 20 Maringa turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including 19 on the offensive glass. SESI looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Vitoria Domingos (181-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. International Gabriella DArrigo (174-1998) contributed with 13 points and 4 steals for the winners. point guard Maria Pereira (165-2003) answered with 9 points and 7 rebounds for Maringa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated SESI (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Maringa lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with five games lost. Maringa will play next round against Mesquita trying to get back on the winning streak. SESI will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Sampaio in Sampaio Basquete.
Undefeated Sampaio (7-1) recorded its first loss in Sampaio Basquete. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Corinthians (5-2) 87-84. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Sampaio. It was a great evening for the former international center Mariana Queiroz (190-1997) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Tassia Carcavalli helped adding 26 points and 5 steals. At the losing side the former international power forward Gabriela Guimaraes (180-1996) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Corinthians moved-up to third place, which they share with Ourinhos. Sampaio at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. Corinthians will play against Campinas (#6) at home in the next round. Sampaio will play against the league's leader SESI (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was an exceptional evening for Tassia Carcavalli who led the winners and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Leticia Lisboa came up with 9 points and 9 rebounds for Cerrado in the defeat. Cerrado's coach Alan Monteiro gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Corinthians moved-up to third place, which they share with Ourinhos. Loser Cerrado keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Corinthians will meet at home Campinas (#6) in the next round. Cerrado will play against the league's leader SESI and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 7 Santo Andre was smashed by Campinas on the road 80-56. Sao Jose lost to Ourinhos on its own court 70-74.

Campinas - Santo Andre 80-56

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Campinas (3-3) crushed at home 9th ranked Santo Andre (1-6) 80-56 on Thursday. Campinas dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Santo Andre's 24. Campinas forced 21 Santo Andre turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Izabella Sangalli (182-1995) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Argentinian Agustina Marin (170-2003) accounted for 23 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Center Giovanna Rocha (187-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and the former international power forward Leticia Rodrigues (187-1995) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Santo Andre in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Campinas. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mesquita. Santo Andre lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Campinas will meet higher ranked Corinthians (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santo Andre will play against Blumenau (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Corinthians held Cerrado to an opponent 19.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Corinthians had a 39-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Cerrado's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Tassia Carcavalli (179-1992) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Ourinhos outrebounded Sao Jose 40-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Ourinhos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Juliana Ribeiro (189-1994) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Maria Ferreira (192-1994) accounted for 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Ourinhos players scored in double figures. Colombian guard Manuela Rios (163-1997) came up with 23 points, 8 assists and 5 steals and center Juliana Souza (185-1999) added 9 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Sao Jose in the defeat. Ourinhos moved-up to third place, which they share with Corinthians. Loser Sao Jose keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Ourinhos will meet at home Mesquita (#7) in the next round. Sao Jose will have a break next round.
