LBF Round 8 (Regular Season): SESI lose to Sampaio

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader SESI (8-1). They were defeated by second ranked Sampaio (8-1) 75-69 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of SESI. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Gabriela Guimaraes (180-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and the former international point guard Lays Silva (166-1998, agency: Interperformances) who added 24 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The former international Vitoria Domingos (181-1996) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Sampaio keeps a position of league leader, which they share with defeated SESI. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

SESI will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cerrado will play on the road against Blumenau (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Blumenau (0-7) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to ninth ranked Santo Andre (2-6) 74-72 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was Ineidis Casanova who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Sil Gustavo produced 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Santo Andre moved-up to eighth place. Blumenau at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Santo Andre will meet higher ranked Mesquita (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Blumenau will play against Cerrado (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: Mesquita destroyed Maringa on the opponent's court 80-48. Ourinhos managed to outperform Mesquita in a home game 79-63. Campinas recorded a loss to Corinthians on the road 63-54.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Marcella Prande of Santo Andre.

Maringa - Mesquita 48-80

Very expected game when 9th ranked Maringa (1-6) was crushed at home by fifth ranked Mesquita (4-4) 80-48 on Monday. Mesquita dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Maringa's 24. Mesquita forced 24 Maringa turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Colombian guard Mayra Caicedo (161-2000, college: Tarleton St.) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Isabela Oliveira (180-2000) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Mesquita players scored in double figures. Forward Renata Filippin (180-2003) produced 8 points and 7 rebounds and center Lorena Silva (189-1998) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mesquita have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 4-4 record, which they share with Sao Jose. Maringa lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. Mesquita will meet at home Santo Andre (#8) in the next round. Maringa will play against Corinthians in Vila Medon and hope to win that game.
