The most important game in the last round took place in Araraquara between second ranked SESI (9-2) and fourth ranked Ourinhos (8-4) on Friday night. SESI was defeated by Ourinhos at home 73-56. Ourinhos outrebounded SESI 56-28 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ourinhos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by SESI's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maria Ferreira (192-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Thaissa Frediani (16-1989) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Emanuely De Oliveira (178-1999, college: Florida) who recorded 21 points and 7 rebounds. Ourinhos maintains fourth position with 8-4 record. SESI at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Corinthians. Ourinhos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SESI will play on the road against Maringa and is hoping to win this game.
Leader Sampaio delivered the eleventh victory. This time they crushed 11th ranked Maringa (1-12) 81-41 in Sampaio Basquete. It was a good game for the former international power forward Gabriela Guimaraes (180-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds. Carina Martins contributed with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals for the winners. Forward Thailane Monteiro (185-2000) replied with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Maringa. Maringa's coach Rafael Oliveira gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Sampaio have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. Maringa lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Sampaio will play against Blumenau (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maringa will play against the league's second-placed SESI to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Campinas was also quite interesting. Third ranked Corinthians (9-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Campinas (7-6). Corinthians managed to secure a 5-point victory 52-47 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of Ariadna Felipe who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Izabella Sangalli with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Corinthians have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with SESI. Loser Campinas dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Sao Jose. Corinthians will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Campinas will play against Santo Andre (#9) and hope to secure a win.
